I love peeling avocado seeds, it's so relaxing ☺

After watching this video at the start of 2024 I've peeled all my seeds (15 so far) and they have ALL germinated, 100% success, as long as I waited long enough (usually 4-5 weeks). I think the seed coat tends to rot and make the water/seed really yucky. I'd bet that's the main cause of seed death when seeds don't germinate, as it doesn't happen at all for me when the seeds have been peeled. It would also appear that the germination time depends highly on the size of the seed: smaller seeds generally germinate faster. I think it simply takes longer for the water to soak into a bigger seed. BTW I also don't use toothpicks at all, just put them in a small plastic container with water.

So I found a video that u speel wrap in a damp clothe put in a zip lock back and throw them above or below your oven. Leave and forget like 4 month. I tell u what my roots are huge. The only question is I don’t know if I put in soil and if so what side up or down lmao maybe give it a try ❤love the video😊

hi, can you make a video about grow avocado seed in their fruit vs grow as seed.

I have a dual trunk avocado tree. When it sprouted the main and only stem had gotten damaged, didnt look like it was going to survive. The seed shot out another stem and the first one did recover surprisingly. For the first year it looked sickly but now is vigorous short and bushy. I love how it turned out.

You should have shown the exact direction of seed how to plant it. That you didnt. You just made a fast video.

I have one that I grew along with two other that came from the same place and its albino, it’s been living for over a year and the reason i believe it’s still alive is because one of the leafs was able to produce chlorophyll on only half the leaf so it’s half white and bulky and half normal with the green part growing bigger. The new leafs after still grew even tho no chlorophyll was being produced. And just recently one of the two other I grew together randomly started producing a white leaf !! Which is so weird because it was just a normal looking one when randomly produced white leaves!!

The slim chance an avocado will be good is sort of a myth. There is actually a decent chance a home grower will get a tree that has an avocado they enjoy eating. The slim to none chance came from commercial growers trying to find a similar or better avocado than what they are selling. This is a lot harder as commercial growers need a lot of traits that home growers could care less about such as small seeds and less damage when shipping. Home growers would need neither of those to enjoy a good tasting avocado grown at home.

Will they grow near the sea or is the occasional salty spray deadly to them? Just wondering if I could grow them in among gorse and then eventually they will overshadow the gorse and become an avocado grove instead.

I just got sad cause my baby has 8 white leaves with just a little green. So you saying it might die.??

Now my avocado is almost one year old. it's still growing but too slowly I think because I didn't give it space. It only grew in glass of water all this time 😅 no nutrients added or anything I don't know how it's growing leaves 😂. I decided to give my baby some extra space and some Azomite. I hope it will continue its growth 🥹.

My avocado’s seed is totally up the soil and the plant can’t be more happy and healthy. You need to work on more samples and many species for better conclusions.

Oh gosh Scott, I just got one of my avocado seeds planted , and I usually bury the seedmostly and don't leave it out of the soil too much, I am always so happy when they grow well and their leaves get so pretty looking. great videos. I have to ask u. I have a haas avacado i grew from a seed and it got to about 2 ft in the pot and all of a sudden the leaves wilted and fell off. Now the plant is still there with a healthy trunk but no leaf growth what so ever. What can I do to promote leaf growth at this situation. Ty so much

I tried to germinate avocado seeds several times, didn’t work. I planted right away in the soil and in a few weeks it surprised me with a growth. Initially didn’t remember what was that I planted then realized it was avocado seeds after they showed off the soil.

Do you remember what kind of avocado the pit came from the one you show here on this vid?

is it normal when there are so many of them? I have to avocado plants. One got really healthy green leaves but the root grows so fast and the root is filled with tons of primordias and the other one has much smaller root and the leaves looks lighter and looks more fragile. Should I be concern of this root primordia?

I had 4 stems come out of my seed. I was shocked as a first time avocado grower.

Hi Scott, I found a great way to grow Avocado's in water is to use a 500g tall white plastic Yoghurt Pot. With it being white it stops a lot of algae growing as the light can't penetrate the pot as well. Then once the root ball is established I just get a jug and half fill with water then soil making a slurry. I then empty the water out of the pot and pour in the slurry. Once the pot is full, I cut three slit around the corner of the base of the pot allowing the excess water to drain and keep topping up with slurry until all the roots are covered up to the pit .... its a perfect size pot for growing on and as you are not pressing the roots when potting on you get less trauma to the root ball :) have a go :)

Challenging ideas and learning is how to grow (an avocado tree). If we just accept the first idea, or dont question things, then we dont understand it in the first place. Great vid mate, I've got a lil avo growing atm with its seed out, might go and just cover it incase.

Makes a whole lot of sense! This happened to the last batch of avocado seeds I started growing. It came from this bag of “mini” avocados. Probably just picked very young!

So, if i plant haas variety and backn variety from seeds , will the trees produce fruits ?

My plant is at 30 cm. A brand new leaf cluster coming in at top. The entire main trunk is green. I am afraid to prune it. There are no nodes on the first 15 cm. Help!

I feel like the green water may have been an important factor that wasn't controlled for. To me it certainly indicates that there was excessive microbial activity happening for that one seed. Anyway... Avocado Mythbusters..? I like it!

Maybe the plants need a bigger container and a bit more water. Plus, a bigger sample. Just have more avocados. How big is the oldest avocado tree?

I did the baggie method using ph7 water and it worked but took a long time to root and grow. I switched to ph6 water and had great success, now I got too many avocado trees. I also put them in dirt, seed above soil and outside in the sun when they're an inch tall. I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in America.
